The Background

ABO Energy Canada Ltd. the Canadian entity of international renewable energy developer ABO Energy operates wind measurement campaigns across remote sites globally that face harsh seasonal conditions. As industry leaders, they continuously explore a range of technologies to further optimize performance acrossits global deployments. For one of their new greenfield locations in Canada, the team required a dependable, autonomous off-grid power source to support their Vaisala WINDCUBE wind Lidar.
The site of this new deployment had no existing power infrastructure and harsh winter conditions expected. Historically, ABO Canada implemented various power system combinations, which generally performed well, with some variability in winter, when continuous uptime is crucial for capturing uninterruptedwind resource data.

The Challenge

For this Canadian deployment, ABO Energy required an autonomous power system capable of delivering consistent year-round performance in a demanding environment to ensure continuouswind resource data collection based on:
Reliability: The clean power supply system needed to operate consistently through all seasons, particularly in sub -20°C temperatures and deep snow falls with minimal maintenance and limited site intervention.

Operational Consistency: Maintain uninterrupted wind LiDAR operation was mission-critical to ensure high-quality wind assessment data collection.

Remote Access & Reliable Support: The team required strong remote monitoring and trouble-shooting capabilities with
timely technicalsupport they could count on.

Before deployment, the team wanted to confirm that the MOBISUN Hybrid Power Trailer could meet these requirements underreal-world operating conditions. 

Our Solution For

Autonomous Power for Wind Resource Assessment

The Solution

ABO Energy deployed the MOBISUN-350 HYBRID Solar + Propane Fuel Cell Clean Power Trailer, a fully autonomous, solar + fuel cell + battery power system specifically designed for remote, low-temperature environments.

The system integrates:

Solar PV generation
Battery energy storage
Propane fuel cell backup
Advanced remote monitoring capabilities

This hybrid power architecture enables continuous, autonomous operation while minimizing the need for on-site intervention. The system has been deployed for over one full year, operating across allseasons and providing stable,reliable power to thewind LiDAR.

The Outcome

The MOBISUN-350 delivered the reliability ABO Energy required, maintaining continuous wind LiDAR operation with no meaningful downtime and 100% data collection in itsfirst year of operation.

A minor propane tank issue occurred early in the deployment and was quickly resolved. Since then, the system has operated smoothly without requiring additional site visits. Propane fuel tanks lasted 3 months before requiring a site visit for refueling.
